Title: Authorizes Early Voting in Specific Cases

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes in-person voting prior to election day.

  • Authorizes the general assembly to provide by law for voting in person prior to the day of the election in the choice of any officer to be elected or voted on at an election by qualified voters of the state (Sec. 7).

  • Requires the general assembly to receive the votes of the electors and count and declare them in open meeting (Sec. 9).

  • Requires the presiding officers to certify duplicate lists of the persons voted for, and the number of votes for each (Sec. 4).

  • Requires the delivered votes to be counted, canvassed, and declared within the month of November under the following provisions (Sec. 4):

    • The vote for treasurer shall be counted, canvassed, and declared by the secretary and comptroller only;

    • The vote for secretary shall be counted, canvassed, and declared by the treasurer and comptroller only; and

    • The vote for comptroller shall be counted, canvassed, and declared by the treasurer and secretary only.
