Vote to pass a bill that authorizes DMV to issue driving privileges to undocumented residents.

Highlights:

• Authorizes individuals unable to establish legal presence in the United States to attain a driver privilege card or permit if they have reported income and deductions from Rhode Island or been claimed as a dependent on an individual income tax return (Sec. 1).

• Establishes a $50 fee for attaining the aforementioned driver privilege card and specifies that the card shall be valid for a period of 2 years (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the driver privilege card shall have the same privileges and be identical in appearance to a state driver’s license (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the aforementioned driver privilege card shall not be a valid form of identification for federal or state voting purposes (Sec. 1).
