Title: Repeals ACT and SAT Requirements for High School Graduation
Vote to pass a bill that repeals ACT and SAT requirements for high school graduation.
Authorizes the parent or guardian of a student who enters 9 grade for the first time on or after the first day of July, to not have their student take a nationally standardized assessment (Sec. 3301.0712).
Requires the Department of Education to assign a letter grade or performance rating no later than September 15, or the preceding Friday, if September 15 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, for the following (Sec. 3302.03):
Overall academic performance for each school district;
Separate performance measures for each school district; and
Each school building within a district.
Requires the Department of Education to include a descriptor for each performance rating, as follows (Sec. 3302.03):
“Significantly exceeds state standards” for a performance rating of 5 stars;
“Exceeds state standards” for a performance rating of 4 or 4.5 stars;
“Meets state standards” for a performance rating of 3 stars or 3.5 stars;
“Needs support to meet state standards” for a performance rating of 2 or 2.5 stars; and
“Needs significant support to meet state standards” for a performance rating of 1 or 1.5 stars.
