Vote to pass a bill that establishes the category of safety and security staff for kindergarten through grade 12 public schools.

Highlights:

• Establishes safety and security staff in both charter and public schools for students grades K-12 by the start of the 2021-2022 school year and requires they receive on-the-job training before becoming licensed (Sec. 1).

• Requires that the following data and information be annually collected and submitted to the legislature, including (Sec. 2):

• The total number of safety and security staff working in the district and in each school building;

• The name of the safety and security staff working in the district and in each school building;

• A description of each incident where safety and security staff were involved that resulted in:

• Student discipline;

• Use of force against another student; or

• Student arrest.

• Specifies that the aforementioned description include the students' race, ethnicity, and other related demographics (Sec. 2).
