Title: Extends Work Permit Requirements to Children that are Homeschooled
Vote to pass a bill that extends work permit requirements to children that are homeschooled.
Defines “employ” as to engage, permit, or allow one to work (Sec. 2).
Defines “employer” as an individual, firm, or corporation that employs a minor, including a state or political subdivision, an agency or instrumentality of the state, and an agent of an employer (Sec. 2).
Defines “issuing officer” as any of the following, including (Sec. 2):
The chief administrator of a school district, intermediate school district, public school academy, or nonpublic school, or an individual authorized by the chief administrator in writing to act on their behalf; or
For a minor being educated at home, their parents or legal guardian.
Defines “minor” as an individual under the age of 18 (Sec. 2).
Authorizes legal employment and protection of minor workers by issuing work permits (Sec. 2).
