  • Authorizes the supplemental appropriation of $400 million in federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act – Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Revenue Replacement Fund to the Department of Corrections - Correctional Capital Improvement for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022 (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the $400 million appropriation be used for the construction of a specialized men’s prison facility and an Escambia men’s prison facility (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires any amount of the $400 million appropriation remaining unexpended on September 30, 2022, shall be reappropriated to the entity for the same purpose for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2022 (Sec. 1).

  • Established that this act shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by the Governor, or upon its otherwise becoming law (Sec. 2).
