Title: Transfers $400 Million in COVID-19 Aid from the American Rescue Plan to Correctional Facilities
Vote to pass a bill that transfers $400 million in federal COVID aid from the American Rescue Plan towards correctional facilities.
Authorizes the supplemental appropriation of $400 million in federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act – Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Revenue Replacement Fund to the Department of Corrections - Correctional Capital Improvement for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022 (Sec. 1).
Requires the $400 million appropriation be used for the construction of a specialized men’s prison facility and an Escambia men’s prison facility (Sec. 1).
Requires any amount of the $400 million appropriation remaining unexpended on September 30, 2022, shall be reappropriated to the entity for the same purpose for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2022 (Sec. 1).
Established that this act shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by the Governor, or upon its otherwise becoming law (Sec. 2).
