Highlights:

  • Authorizes the appropriation of $135 million from the unanticipated and unappropriated beginning balance in the State General Fund for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022 to the Department of 16 Corrections - Correctional Capital Improvement Fund to be used for the construction, renovation, and improvement of prison facilities (Sec. 1). 

 

  • Requires any amount of the $135 million appropriation remaining unexpended on September 30, 2022, shall be reappropriated to the entity for the same purpose for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2022 (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes the appropriation of $19 million from the unanticipated and unappropriated beginning balance in the State General Fund for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022, to the Bureau of Pardons and Paroles to be used for the purpose of acquiring and renovating the existing prison facility in Perry County (Sec. 2). 

  • Requires that any amount of the $19 million appropriation remaining unexpended on September 30, 2022, shall be reappropriated to the Bureau for the same purpose for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2022 (Sec. 2).

  • Establishes that this act shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by the Governor, or upon its otherwise becoming law (Sec. 3).
