Title: Requires Statewide Testing for 40 Types of Emerging Contaminants
Vote to pass a bill that requires statewide testing for 40 types of emerging contaminants.
Authorizes statewide testing for forty different types of “emerging contaminants” to further expand water testing in New York (Sec. 1).
Requires the commissioner will publish draft regulations containing the first list of emerging contaminants within ninety days of the effective date and will make regulations implementing this ninety days thereafter. (Sec. 1).
Establishes the list of contaminants includes, but is not limited to (Sec. 1):
Trichloropropane;
Chloromethane;
Dichloroethane;
Bromoethane;
Chlorodifluoromethane;
Vanadium;
Molybdenum;
Cobalt;
Strontium;
Chromium-6;
Chlorate;
Perfluorononanoic acid; and
Perfluorohexane sulfonic acid.
Requires the commissioner to make regulations updating the list of emerging contaminants and their associated notification levels to reflect the latest available scientific information at least once every three years (Sec. 1).
Establishes the act will take effect immediately (Sec. 2).
