Title: Requires Every Short-Term Rental Property Listed for Rent on Any Third-Party Hosting Platform be Registered with the Department of Business Regulation
Vote to override a governor's veto and pass a bill that requires every short-term rental property listed for rent on the website of any third-party hosting platform that conducts business in Rhode Island to be registered with the Department of Business Regulation.
Requires every short-term rental property listed for rent on the website of any third-party hosting platform that conducts business in Rhode Island to be registered with the Department of Business Regulation (Sec. 1).
Defines “short-term rental” as an individual, firm, or corporation utilization, for transient lodging accommodations that do not exceed 30 nights at a time (Sec. 1).
Requires the department of business regulation create an online database to store all registered short-term rental units (Sec. 1).
Specifies that property owners that fail to meet the aforementioned requirements of a short term rental be subject to the following fines, including (Sec. 1):
$250 for the first 30 days of non-compliance;
$500 for the next 30 days of non-compliance; and
$1,000 for more than 60 days of non-compliance.
