Vote to pass a bill that amends medical marijuana laws.
Establishes Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act (Sec. 1).
Authorizes medical cannabis use by certain patients w/ debilitating medical conditions (Sec. 2).
Authorizes the Department of Health to issue identification cards to said patients (Sec. 4).
Requires cannabis research, testing, processing facilities be licensed by the department (Sec. 4).
Establishes seed-to-sale tracking system (Sec. 6).
Specifies government programs, private insurers need not reimburse for medical cannabis costs (Sec. 7).
Prohibits certain discriminatory acts against medical cannabis cardholders (Sec. 8).
Specifies that employers may still discipline employees for using medical cannabis in the workplace (Sec. 8).
Establishes confidential list of cardholders (Sec. 15).
Establishes a tiered system of cannabis establishment licensure (Sec. 18).
Limits physical location of medical cannabis establishments; must be more than 1,000 feet from school, church, or child care facility (Sec. 18).
Requires cultivation facilities to pay 5 percent excise tax (Sec. 29).
Establishes Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee (Sec. 33).
Limits establishments’ access to tax credits, exemptions, incentives, etc. (Sec. 50).
