Title: Global Respect Act

Vote to pass a bill that imposes visa-blocking sanctions on foreign individuals responsible for or complicit in violating the human rights of individuals due to actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics.

Highlights:

 

  • Establishes visa-blocking sanctions on foreign individuals responsible for or complicit in violating the human rights of individuals due to actual or perceived (Sec. 3):

    • Sexual oreientation;

    • Gender identity; or

    • Sex characteristics.

  • Requires that the President report and periodically update a list of foreign individuals responsible for the aforementioned human rights violations and apply sanctions accordingly (Sec. 3).

  • Requires the Department of State designate at least one senior officer who shall be responsible for tracking violence and discrimination against individuals bsaed on actual or perceived sexual oreientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics in foreign countries (Sec. 4).
