Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that expands the regulation of assisted living residences.
Requires written notice of involuntary discharge from assisted living residence, at least 30 days prior to discharge, sent to resident, legal representative, and relatives (Sec. 1, Pg. 1).
Requires statement of reasons for such discharge, including medical evaluation (Sec. 1, Pgs. 2-4).
Requires statement of resident’s right to file grievance challenging such discharge (Sec. 1, Pg. 3).
Requires that grievance be filed within 14 days of discharge notice (Sec. 1, Pg. 3).
Authorizes State Long-Term Care Ombudsman and local ombudsman to assist the aggrieved (Sec. 1, Pg. 4).
Authorizes aggrieved to make appeals for grievance (Sec. 1, Pg. 4).
Prohibits punitive or retaliatory action against the aggrieved resident (Sec. 1, Pg. 5).
