Title: Amends the Delaware Marijuana Control Act
Vote to pass a bill to amend the Delaware Code relating to creation of the Delaware Marijuana Control Act.
Authorizes the personal use of marijuana for 21 years old or older and taxed in a manner similar to alcohol so law enforcement can focus on violent crime and property crimes (Page 3).
Specifies marijuana must be regulated in the manner similar to alcohol to ensure the following (Page 4):
Individuals will have to show proof of age;
Selling, distributing, or transferring marijuana individuals under the age of 21 remains illegal;
Driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal;
Legitimate, tax paying business people, not criminal actors, conduct sales of marijuana; and
Marijuana sold in this state will be tested, labeled, and subject to additional regulations to ensure consumers and informed and protected.
NOTE: THIS LEGISLATION NEEDED A THREE-FIFTHS MAJORITY VOTE TO PASS.
