Vote to pass a bill that expands requirements as to K-12 mental health education.

Highlights:

• Specifies that each district in the state public school system shall be encouraged to initiate and conduct a program in health education for kindergarten through grade 12 (Sec. 2).

• Requires the program to include instruction in physical health and personal safety, CPR, environmental health and mental health (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that guidelines for developmentally appropriate instruction in mental health shall be developed in constitution with the Department of Health, the Department of Family and Community Services, regional tribal health organizations, and representatives of national and state mental health organizations (Sec. 3).
