Vote to pass a bill that prohibits transgender girls from playing on female sports teams.

Highlights:

• Requires public primary and secondary schools, and schools or institutions of higher education whose students or sports teams compete against other schools, expressly designate them as follows, including for (Sec. 1):

• Males, men, or boys;

• Females, women, or girls; or

• Coed, or mixed, including both males and females.

• Prohibits athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls, from being open to students of the male sex (Sec. 1).

• Establishes that for the purposes of this act a statement of a student’s biological sex on their official birth certificate shall be considered to have correctly stated the student’s biological sex at birth (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits any government entity, licensing or accreditation entity, athletic association or organization from taking adverse action against a school district or institution of higher education for maintaining separate athletic teams or sports for students of the female sex (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes any student who is harmed by a violation of this act or is subject to retaliation or any other adverse action by a school district, athletic association, or athletic organization as a result of reporting to have private cause of action for injunctive relief, damages, attorney fees, and any other relief available under law (Sec. 1).

• Requires the state superintendent of public instruction, and the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community college commission to promulgate rules to implement this act no later than August 15, 2022 (Sec. 2).
