Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires paper records of elections.
Amends existing Tennessee law and codes relating to voting machines (Sec. 1).
Requires all voting machines used by a county election commission in the state to have the ability to produce a voter-verified paper audit trail beginning January 1, 2024 (Sec. 1).
Defines “voter-verified paper audit trail” to mean a permanent individual paper document that is marked either manually by the voter or with the assistance of a device, and verified by the voter as correctly reflecting their vote (Sec. 1).
Authorizes a county election commission to apply to the coordinator of elections for an extension of up to 2 years to comply with the previous provision (Sec. 1).
