Title: Right to Contraception Act

Vote to pass a bill that protects an individual's ability to access contraceptives, engage in contraception, and protects a health care provider's ability to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception.

  • Defines “ Contraception” as an action taken to prevent pregnancy, including the use of contraceptives or fertility-aware-based methods, and sterilization procedures (Sec. 2).

  • Defines “Contraceptive” means any drug, device, or biological product intended for use in the prevention of pregnancy, whether specifically intended to prevent pregnancy or for other health needs (Sec. 2).

  • Defines “government” to include each branch, department, agency, instrumentality, and official of the United States or state thereof (Sec. 2).

  • Defines “ health care provider” as any entity or  individual, including any physician, certified nurse-midwife, nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and pharmacist (Sec. 2).

  • Defines “state” to include all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and each territory and possession of the United States, including any unit of local government such as county, city, town, village, or other general purpose political subdivision (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that this bill protects an individual's ability to access contraceptives, engage in contraception, and protects a health care provider's ability to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception.

  • Authorizes the Attorney General to take civil action on behalf of the United States against any state, or government official that violates, implements or enforces a limitation or requirement that violates this bill (Sec. 7).
