Vote to pass a bill that amends the definition of rape.

Highlights:

• Amends the definition of rape to include when a person knowingly or intentionally has sexual intercourse with another person or causes another person to perform or submit to other sexual conduct when any of the following is the case (Sec. 1, Pg. 1).

• If the other person is compelled by force or threat;

• If the other person is unaware that such acts are occurring;

• If the other person is so mentally disabled that consent cannot be given; or

• If the person disregards the other person’s physical, verble, or otherwise visible attempts to refuse the acts or conduct.

• Specifies that rape is a Level 3 felony and that the above definition takes effect July 1, 2022 (Sec. 1, pg. 1).
