Title: Establishes a Process to Remove Discriminatory Provisions from Real Property Documents
Vote to amend and pass a bill that establishes a process for the removal of discriminatory provisions from real property documents.
Authorizes a person owning real property or an interest in real property to request the removal of discriminatory provisions from the associated record of ownership document (Sec. 1, Pg. 2).
Requires that a restriction or discriminatory provision as described in this act is void and no longer has legal effect (Sec. 1, Pg. 2).
Specifies that discriminatory provision means a restriction or provisions that effects the deed ownership of real property that prohibits the use, sale, lease, or transfer of the property to a person or entity because of race, color, or national origin (Sec. 1, Pg. 1).
Establishes the standard form for requesting the removal of discriminatory provisions (Sec. 1, Pgs. 2-4).
Authorizes the owner of real property or a person with an interest in real property to grant permission to another person to make the above request (Sec. 1, Pg. 4).
Requires submitted petitions to be reviewed by the chancery court in the appropriate county, along with a review of the related ownership document (Sec. 1, Pg. 5).
Prohibits a court from requesting a filing fee for the filed petition (Sec. 1, Pg. 6).
Establishes the proper filing format for the petitions in court (Sec. 1, Pgs. 6-8).
Authorizes the agricultural extension service of the Mississippi State University of Agriculture and Applied Science to create a 4-H club with certain regulations (Sec. 2, Pgs. 8 & 9).
