Title: James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that appropriates funding for the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023.
Appropriates $858 billion for the Department of Defense for fiscal year 2023 including (Div. A, Title I):
A 4.6% pay increase and 2% housing allowance increase for troops;
Funding for purchases of weapons, ships and aircraft; and
$12.6 billion for inflation impact on purchases including $3.8 billion for the impact on military construction projects and $2.5 billion on fuel purchases;
Repeals the previously required COVID-19 vaccine mandate (Div, A, Title V, Sec. 525).
Increases the eligibility threshold for the Basic Needs Allowance (supplemental payment for low-income military families) from 130% to 150% of the federal income poverty line (Div. A, Title VI, Sec. 611).
Requires the Defense Secretary compile a report for the congressional Armed Services committees on suicide rates by military ossupational specialty, service and grade no later than June 1 of each year (Div. A, Titile V, Sec. 599).
Authorizes the reimpbursment of up to $4,000 for pet relocation expenses stemming from permanent changes of station to or from locations outside the continental United States (Div. A, Title VI, Sec. 624).
Appropriates $800 million to extend and modify the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative through fiscal year 2023 (Div. A, Title VII, Sec. 736).
Appropriates $10 billion for an enhanced defense partnership with Taiwan (Div. A, Title LV, Subtile A).
