Title: Prohibits Threats Against Judges

Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits threats against judges.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits anyone from threatening a judge or the immediate family member of a judge with the following intentions (Sec. 1, Pgs. 1 & 2):

    • To cause either to have great fear of bodily harm;

    • To prevent or interrupt the duties of the judge; or

    • To retaliate against a judge because of the performance of their official duties.

  • Specifies that a person violating the above provision is guilty of a 4th degree felony (Sec. 1, Pg. 2).

  • Prohibits any person from sharing the personal information of a judge or a judge’s immediate family members with the following intentions (Sec. 2, Pg. 2):

    • To cause harm to the judge or family member;

    • To place either in fear of great bodily harm; or

    • To prevent or interrupt the ability of the judge to carry out their duties.

  • Specifies that a person violating the above provision is guilty of a misdemeanor (Sec. 2, Pg. 3).
