Vote to pass a bill that prohibits sexually oriented businesses from operating near child-oriented facilities.

Highlights:

• Defines “sexually oriented business” as “an adult arcade, an adult bookstore, an adult cabaret, an adult motion picture theater, or a sexual device shop” (Page 8).

• Prohibits operation of such businesses within 1,000 feet of “property occupied by a child care center (as defined in IC 20-27-9-12), public or private school principally attended by students under eighteen (18) years of age, YMCA or YWCA facility, Boys and Girls Club facility, public swimming pool, public park, playground open to the public, youth sports facility, or children’s amusement establishment” (Page 8).

• Exempts sexually oriented businesses lawfully established and legally operating before July 1, 2022 (Page 9).

• Authorizes Attorney General, county prosecuting attorney, local government unit, or county resident to bring action to enforce violations (Page 9).
