Title: Prohibits Ranked-Choice Voting

  • Prohibits the State Board of Elections from authorizing any political subdivision from adopting ranked-choice voting and tabulation methods of any kind, such as (Sec. 1):

    • Voters ranking candidates in order of preference;

    • Tabulation proceeding in rounds where each round has a candidate either elected or eliminated based on last place votes;

    • Votes being transferred from elected or eliminated candidates to the voter’s next ranked candidate in order of preference; or

    • Tabulation ending when a candidate receives a majority of votes cast or the number of candidates elected equals the number of offices filled.

  • Specifies that this bill shall take effect upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 1).
