Title: Authorizes Out-of-State Teachers to be Licensed in Iowa

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes out of state teachers to be licensed in Iowa.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the board of educational examiners to issue a license to an applicant from another state if that applicant provides proof of them possessing the required or equivalent requirements (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that the applicant is offering proof of them possessing the required or equivalent requirements by submitting any of the following(Sec. 1): 

    • A full license from another state or country (this licensee can not be a temporary license or an emergency license); 

    •  Verification from an institution located in another state that the applicant has completed all program and licensure requirements; and/or 

    • Transcripts indicating the application completed an educator preparatory program in another program. 

  • Requires the board to provide a point of contact to give an applicant information about non traditional licensure if the applicant’s spouse is a military person on duty or in active state duty then the board must (Sec. 1).
