Title: Appropriates Funding for the State Public Safety Omnibus Bill
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funding for Public Safety Omnibus bill to invest in public defenders and the state's judicial system and creating a new incentive for felons to rehabilitate while serving time in corrections.
Appropriates the following amounts of funding for Public Safety Omnibus bill including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
$70 million in 2024 and $78 million in 2025 for the state supreme court;
$14.6 billion in 2024 and $15.4 billion in 2025 for the court of appeals;
$377.8 million in 2024 and $384 million in 2025 for the state district courts;
$154 million in 2024 and $164.3 million in 2025 for the board of public defense; and
$326.3 million in 2024 and $299.6 in 2025 for state public safety costs;
Increases various funding levels to invest in the state public defenders office (Sec. 1).
Increases state funding levels to the state's judicial system (Sec. 1).
Establishes a new state inmate incentive program called the Minnesota Rehabilitation and Reinvestment Act (MRRA) for felons to rehabilitate themselves while serving time (Sec. 11).
