Vote to pass a bill that requires the commissioner of public health to post certain notices regarding food allergy awareness in the 12 most common non-English languages spoken by limited-English proficient individuals in the state.

Highlights:

• Requires the commissioner to post on the department's website in English and the 12 most common non-English languages spoken by limited-English proficient individuals in the state, based on the data in the most recent American Community Survey information for staff of food service establishments regarding food allergies, such as the procedure if someone has an allergic reaction, the procedure if someone informs them of an allergy, and any procedures to avoid cross contamination (Sec. 1). 

• Requires that the commissioner make the following notice: "If you have a food allergy, please notify us." or a food allergy message that informs the customer about the allergy information for each prepared food item or items on such a menu available on the department website in 12 most common non-English  languages spoken by limited-English proficient individuals in the state based on the data in the most recent American Community Survey (Sec. 1). 

• Requires that on menu restaurants include either the following notice: "If you have a food allergy, please notify us or a food allergy message that informs the customer about the allergy information for each prepared food item or items on such menu (Sec. 1).

• Requires that all online ordering spaces, including under a third-party food delivery agreement, have a space for people to indicate if they have an allergy or provide a food allergy message that informs the customer about the allergy information for each prepared food item or items on such menu (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that any restaurant found to violate this act is liable for a civil penalty not to exceed $125 for each violation (Sec. 1).
