Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that authorizes parental review and challenge of school library books and curriculum.

Highlights:

• Requires all public and private school districts and libraries establish policies for parental review and challenge of any school library book or education curriculum (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a parental appeal process to further challenge a school districts decision to make available material they consider harmful items to minors (Sec. 1).

• Defines “harmful item” to include, but not be limited to the following (Sec. 1):

• A book, leaflet, pamphlet, magazine, or booklet;

• A picture, drawling, photograph, film, negative, slide, or motion picture;
