Title: Establishes New Rules for Retaking School Courses and Reducing Redundant Data
Vote to adopt a conference report and pass a bill that establishes new rules for retaking school courses and reducing redundant data.
Authorizes high school students to retake classes that were virtual during the pandemic (Sec. 31).
Specifies students must fit the following criteria to retake classes (Sec. 31):
Have been in grades 9 through 12 during the years of 2019-2022 when the virtual course was completed; and
The virtual course was completed due to the ongoing pandemic; and
The student is still in high school.
Specifies the course being retaken must fit the following criteria (Sec. 31):
The course must provide the same instruction, subject matter, and content as the virtual course;
The retaken course cannot be virtual;
Student can receive full credit for completing the retaken course; and
Grade received upon completion replaces the previous grade for the virtual course.
Authorizes students that retook courses under these conditions prior to July 1, 2023 to petition their superintendent for credit (Sec. 31).
