Vote to pass a bill that establishes strict vehicle emissions standards for vehicles sold in Maryland.
-Imposes California's emissions standards, which are stricter than federal emissions standards, on cars sold in Maryland starting in 2011 (sec. 1). -Requires annual reviews of changes made to California's emission standards by the California Air Resources Board (sec. 1). -Creates a Maryland Clean Car and Energy Policy Task Force to enforce the law (sec. 2). -Provides exemptions to the program, including vehicles sold out-of-state and any vehicles that would be exempted under California law (sec. 1). -Provides exemptions from mandatory tests and inspections for hybrid vehicles with at least 50 MPG (city) and zero-emission vehicles (sec. 3).
