Vote to pass a bill requiring Internet filters in public libraries.
Highlights:
- Requires libraries to create Internet safety policies that include installing filtering software on all public computers (sec. 15). - Allows patrons to use computers without filtering software for research or other lawful purposes, but requires anyone under 18 to be accompanied by someone 21 or older (sec. 15). - Requires libraries to either meet or show progress towards meeting the Illinois library standards in order to receive funding grants from the state (sec. 85).
