Vote to pass a bill that would prohibit smoking in most public places and workplaces that are enclosed or largely enclosed.

Highlights:

-Prohibits smoking in public places or workplaces, including bars, restaurants, mass transportation, waiting rooms and train stations, public and private universities and educational institutions, health and government housing facilities, zoos, commercial workplaces, indoor arenas, bingo facilities, hotels and motels, and any public place where the air is enclosed or mostly enclosed (Sec. 4[A]). -Requires that in restricted smoking areas, owners must post clear signs indicating the prohibition of smoking (Sec. 4[B]). -Provides exemption to private property, tobacco industry workplaces, retail tobacco businesses, cigar bars, hotels that have designated smoking rooms that consist of less than 25% of the total occupancy, private clubs, and conferences that are for the purpose of tobacco and have over 75% tobacco of all products there (Sec. 4[C]). -Establishes a civil penalty of $250 for the first smoking offense, $500 for the second, and $1000 for each offense thereafter (Sec. 4[F]).
