Title: Renewable Energy Portfolios

Vote to pass a bill that establishes a policy requiring energy providers to obtain a certain percentage of their power from renewable sources by specific dates.

Highlights:

- Requires energy providers' portfolios to contain (Sec. 13):

    - at least four percent renewable energy in the years 2012, 2013 and 2014 - at least ten percent renewable energy from the year 2015 on
- Allows energy providers to meet their renewable energy goals by producing renewable energy, purchasing electricity through a renewable energy contract, or purchasing renewable energy credits directly [Sec. 17 (1)]. - Requires energy providers to provide the Public Service Commission with plans for how they intend to meet renewable energy goals and an assessment of how much it will cost within 90 days of this act's implementation (Sec. 7). - House Bill 5525 is tie-barred to House Bills 5383, 5524, 5525, 5549 and 5972-5977. It will not take effect unless all are signed into law. - Substitute offered by Representative Mayes.
