Vote to pass a bill that prohibits restaurants from serving foods that contain artificial trans fat.

Highlights:

-Exempts food that is served directly in a manufacturer's original sealed package and food that features proper documentation from the manufacturer that lists the trans fat content as being less than 0.5 grams per serving. -Authorizes the Department of Public Health and local boards of health to establish regulations to enforce provisions of this bill and specifies that violations of those regulations shall be punished by a fine in an amount of at least $25 and not more than $1,000. -Takes effect 12 months after passage with respect to oils or shortenings used for deep frying of yeast dough or cake batter and 6 months after passage with respect to all other oils, shortenings, and margarines that are used for frying or in spreads.
