Title: Authorizing Guns in Restaurants that Serve Alcohol
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to override a veto of a bill that allows individuals with concealed weapons permits to bring guns into restaurants that serve alcohol as long as the individual does not drink.
Highlights:
-Authorizes individuals licensed to carry a handgun to carry the firearm into a restaurant if such establishment has not posted a handgun restriction notice pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1359, and if the individual does not consume alcoholic beverages provided the restaurant is not an age-restricted venue as defined in Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1802 (Sec. 1). -Defines a restaurant as an establishment that serves at least one meal a day five days a week except for holidays and vacations (Sec. 1). -Effective from 01 June 2009
