I proudly authored the "E-Fairness Bill" which required Amazon and other large internet retailers to pay their fair share of sales tax in California. By evading sales tax, these mega corporations were creating an uneven playing field for themselves which directly harmed our small businesses. My bill was signed by the governor in 2011 and generates over $1 billion in revenue for California's general fund each year.
