  • "Not only will this funding go to replenish the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs which have been so critical for our local businesses, it will also set aside billions for community-based lenders and smaller businesses who had trouble accessing this relief the first time around. This is necessary if we want our most vulnerable businesses to be able to reopen on the other side of this pandemic. Representing a district with two world class hospital networks, I was also proud that this funding will support our health care providers and frontline workers through these unprecedented times." • The Morning Call: "We should keep doing what we have started doing, which is fashioning common sense legislation that will deal with the effects of global inflation. We have got to make sure that corporations that are price-gouging are held accountable. You want to talk about prices of gas and oil? Let’s talk about oil companies that are sitting on drilling leases they haven’t used. They are artificially keeping prices high and hurting the American people. As gas prices have started to come down, we have not seen a corresponding decrease in food prices. We have got to stop allowing these monopolies in different sectors. The whole idea of being a capitalist country is that we promote competition, we should not be protecting those sectors." (www.mcall.com)

  • "Yesterday, I jumped on SIRIUS XM POTUS with @juliemason to chat about cancelling student loan debt. Especially for people with disabilities, cancelling student debt is a major step towards eliminating educational disparities and bringing work opportunities to more students." (twitter.com)
  • The Morning Call: "The right to vote I consider to be our single most important Democratic right, and it’s very important that we trust in the outcome of our elections. Having said that, I have never opposed voter ID. I know that’s at odds with some in our party. I would not be opposed to that, with the caveat that we have got to make sure that non-drivers have an easy way of getting a legitimate government ID." (www.mcall.com)

(wildforcongress.com)

  • Signed Letter to Speaker Pelosi: "We are writing on behalf of America's workers in support of bringing H.R. 842, the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, directly to the House floor. This legislation to empower our nation's workers passed the House a year ago. Since then, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has sadly underscored the urgent need for workers' ability to bargain collectively for safe working conditions, robust health care and paid leave, and pay that reflects their essential role in our society. We believe that now is the time to move this important legislation across the finish line." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "Parental leave. I support the FAMILY Act, which would guarantee at least 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave for every worker in America -- which they could use to take care of a newborn or help a family member who has fallen ill. During the COVID-19 crisis, I've also worked to ensure that our health care and frontline workers get the paid leave they need to keep themselves and their families healthy and safe." • Voted in favor of HR 6201 "Families First Coronavirus Response Act" (votesmart.org)

  • "After years of fighting the pharmaceutical industry, we have won the fight to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. No longer will Medicare be forced to pay whatever outrageous prices Big Pharma decides to charge," said Rep. Wild. "But that's not all the Inflation Reduction Act does. It maintains critical tax credits that makes sure over 300,000 Pennsylvanians continue to access affordable and comprehensive health insurance. It fights the climate crisis and will create good paying manufacturing jobs in places like my district that are poised to take advantage of the opportunities in this bill." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "The days of putting profits over people must come to an end. Reducing the costs of prescription drugs was a top priority of mine when I got to Washington and it remains a top priority of mine now," Wild said. "I'm done watching families in the Greater Lehigh Valley decide whether to pay for life-saving medication or to pay their mortgage or put food on the table. No one should have to live in fear of the cost of their health care. Our system has failed the American people, and today we committed to putting their health and well-being first. I am proud to support this long-needed, life-saving legislation." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of HR 6833 "The Affordable Insulin Now Act" (votesmart.org)
  • "I will never vote for a wall along the U.S. Mexico border. It is an absurd waste of tens of billions of taxpayer dollars. Democrats, Libertarians, and most Republicans agree it will be ineffective in its goal. And not even a single member of Congress -- of any party -- whose district borders Mexico supports building the wall. With the real infrastructure needs our country is facing, no serious politician can support Trump's proposal." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "Last night, the House voted for the 10th time to reopen the government and included $1.6 billion in effective border security solutions. If the Senate is serious about ending this shutdown and securing our borders, it will send this bipartisan package to the President’s desk." (twitter.com)

  • Rated 6% by NumbersUSA. (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of HR 6 "American Dream and Promise Act of 2021." (votesmart.org)

  • "Reinstating these basic tax deductions - tax deductions that never should have expired -- is a simple and commonsense way to provide slight relief for students and working families in Pennsylvania and around the country," Wild said. "Our students are facing extremely high tuition costs and graduating college with mountains of debt - this is a small thing we can do to help students find a bit of relief now. I am working hard with the Education and Labor Committee works to create comprehensive solutions to the student debt crisis and make college more inclusive and affordable. At a time when taxpayers feel squeezed from all sides, we must do all we can to support hardworking people in this country." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "The amazing thing about this bill is that it not only pays for itself, but it reduces the deficit. We're not raising taxes on working people. What we are doing is making sure that the largest corporations with over $1 billion in profits per year are paying their fair share. We are saving taxpayer dollars by holding Big Pharma accountable for their price hikes. The importance of this bill cannot be overstated, and with thoughts of the constituents it will help in my mind, I am proud to have voted for this bill," (justfacts.votesmart.org)

"When I led 27 of my colleagues in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Lighthizer, I made renegotiation of provisions that would have locked in high drug costs and harmed our workers my priority and demanded these issues be taken seriously. Now, the American people have won. This deal can't be added to the pile of bills collecting dust on the Senate Majority Leader's desk -- it deserves to be taken up and passed swiftly by the Senate." This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.
Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am an EMILY's List-endorsed candidate and am wholeheartedly pro-choice (running against two anti-choice Democrats in my primary).
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
I support raising tax rates on the highest earners.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I would like to see us move toward publicly funded elections that completely remove "dark" and corporate money from our political process.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I would support reinstating the 1994 assault weapons ban, banning "bump stocks," raising the eligible age for gun purchases, and creating a universal background checks, among other measures.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
The Affordable Care Act can be improved upon, but that in no way includes dismantling or repealing it. It was a great start that I believe should set us on a course toward a Medicare for all-type program.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
Yes, and I have signed Sen. Bernie Sanders' petition calling for the legalization of marijuana and an end to the failed "War on Drugs."
No Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Yes Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
Both of these answers deserve follow up: First, I believe diplomacy is the most proven, best approach to preventing hostile governments from possessing a nuclear weapon. Second, I would support increased intervention only in the sense of diplomacy and coalition building putting boots on the ground in that region with no end in sight will be a failure.
My campaign is all about Families, and thats why my top priorities in Congress will be: (1) establishing a Medicare for all system, so no family has to face bankruptcy due to medical bills; (2) protecting Social Security at all costs, so no seniors face financial uncertainty after a lifetime earning their benefits and playing by the rules; and implementing campaign finance reform to get dark money out of politics. When more revenue is needed to make these priorities a reality, I support increasing taxes on the highest income earners and reducing defense spending.
