  • "We have to do more than just make abortions illegal. If we really want to end abortions we need to deal with the reasons why a woman would end her child’s life. Poverty and the fear of what they’re bringing a child into is a large part of why women get abortions. The fear that the child is the end of their dreams is also part of it. And many are simply not ready for the responsibility. If you really want to end abortions, the first thing we can do is let a mother know that her child will be fed, educated, and housed. We have to create a world where a mother's dreams do not end with the pregnancy. Many Christians today will be outside the abortion clinic, readily offering help for any young woman seeking an abortion. Many will step up and make sure these young women have everything they need to bring a child into the world, but as soon as the child is born that help and guidance are gone. My fear is tomorrow we make abortions illegal, all that help just disappears. I believe we could make a lot more progress if in trying to make abortions more difficult to get if we gave every woman who doesn’t want to be pregnant, a choice on how she chooses to do that, and the knowledge that her child has a future we would have a lot more success." • "The American Anti-Corruption Act is model policy that sets a framework for city, state and federal laws to fix our broken political system. It fundamentally reshapes the rules of American politics and restores the people as the most important stakeholders in our political system. An Anti-Corruption Act has three primary goals: Stop political bribery so special interests can't use job offers and donations to influence politicians. End secret money so people know who's buying political power. Fix our broken elections so the people, not the political establishment, are the ones in control." (dorothyforcongress.com)
  • "The Citizens United Supreme Court decision further exacerbated this problem by allowing super PACs to spend unlimited sums of money on the candidates of their choosing. This decision must be reversed by a Constitutional amendment that gives the federal government and states more control over campaign finance, and ceases to consider corporate money the same as speech. We must also maximize transparency in political contributions by passing legislation that requires wealthy donors to disclose who they give money to." (dorothyforcongress.com)
  • "To reverse this economic decline once and for all, we will kickstart new high-wage industries, modernize old industries, build a 100% renewable energy economy, repair our crumbling infrastructure and rebuild local communities. We will rebuild American industry, build the cheap renewable energy economy in 10 years, invest $4.6 trillion needed to repair our country’s crumbling infrastructure, rebuild our local communities, raise the minimum wage to $15/hour and tie it to inflation, and make special investments in communities that have been devastated in past decades."
