What is the Political Courage Test?

North Carolina Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Human life begins at conception. Abortion is murder.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
The Federal government does not have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem. I support reduction in spending as the means to balance the budget, just like any family would have to do.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Soft money is where corruption starts.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Defense spending is in a good place. We need to spend the money more effectively. We aren't getting enough for it.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Government projects never create wealth. They only move it around. Corporations don't pay taxes. They recoup them in the form of higher prices and reduced dividends, which become a hidden tax, mostly on the middle class. Lower corporate taxes mean lower prices for their goods. This makes American products more competitive on the world market, which leads to more job creation.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
I favor dismantling of the Department of Education. The Federal government has no Constitutional authorization to be involved in education in any way. As a practical matter, the closer the bulk of decision making is to the schools themselves, the more effective they will be. Nobody has a greater interest in the success of a school than the parents of its students.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
If there is anything at all to alternative energy, America's inventors and entrepreneurs will come up with it. They will do this better than any government program ever could. In addition, such programs currently are havens for fraud and corruption. We do need to maintain environmental quality, however, America is not a problem polluter. Climate change and global warming are the greatest hoaxes ever perpetrated on a nation.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Contrary to what you may have heard, the Second Amendment does not grant Americans the right to keep and bear arms. This is covered under "certain inalienable rights" in the Declaration of Independence. What the Second Amendment does is absolutely prohibit government from infringing upon that right
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
The basic question is who do you want in charge of your healthcare? You and your doctor, or healthcare companies? I believe in free market solutions that benefit people at an affordable cost.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
National sovereignty begins with secure borders.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
One of the chief responsibilities of the federal government is the protection of its territories and its people. This will require use of armed forces from time to time. We must be careful to not involve ourselves in the affairs of other nations in this manner. The blood of our children is far to precious to be wasted.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Free trade is only free trade if it is also fair trade. Better to not trade at all than to allow ourselves to be taken advantage of.
Top priority would be completion of the border wall, coupled with an overhaul of our immigration system. I place this top because it is among the easiest to accomplish, and accomplishment of them would make other problems easier to deal with. Placement of taxation and spending limitations on the federal government, perhaps by constitutional amendment. Complete and detailed audit of the Federal Reserve.
