What is the Political Courage Test?

California Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Roe vs. Wade Decision is the Law of the Land. Since times of Antiquity, the abortion rate of pregnancies has always hovered around 20%. Choosing to bring life into the world is often the best choice for the family and community, but by making it difficult for a woman to terminate a pregnancy, society, in essence, pushes the procedure underground where there is a higher risk to women's health. I support the Mexico City Policy and do not support expanding of the marketing of abortion services.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Unknown Position Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Federal funding for entitlement programs should increase with the rate of inflation. In general, these programs take a large portion of the federal budget. Still, we as individuals and society need to be cautious of the moral hazard of expanding these programs to the point where they incentivize people to avoid being self-reliant. Social Security and Medicare are assisting those over the age of 65, who have often put many years of service into the Economy. We should protect these entitlements that are relied upon by many older Americans.
Unknown Position Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I support transparency in election contributions and expenditures. These relationships between organizations and the candidate need to be disclosed. Regulation of these contributions may limit the dialogue needed to address the issues of the day.
Unknown Position Do you support increasing defense spending?
To keep up with inflation and in times of war that has been declared by congress. President Eisenhower warned the citizens about the dangers of the military-industrial complex and we still need to be cautious of expanding military spending beyond prudent measures.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No country has ever taxed itself to prosperity. Lowering taxes on individuals and corporations is a valid measure to increase economic activity. We, as a nation, can not balance our budget by taxing the rich or corporations without them simply disappearing. I support Flat tax legislation that encourages all individuals and corporations to contribute to the work and services of those functions that the Government does excel. Taxes policy should not create a system of loopholes and avoidance.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
we need to have a standard of education that all can agree upon, states can have the option to exceed the standard.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Unknown Position Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
The Federal government should set the minimum regulation for greenhouse gas emissions, the states should have the right to be more restrictive if they choose.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Citizens have a right to the Bill of Rights. In societies in which the government restricted gun rights on their citizens have been soon to recognize the Criminals still have them.
Unknown Position Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
The Health Insurance industry is not working as effectively as it should. Since the passing of the Affordable Care Act, the situation has become unbearable. Health Care and Health Insurance are two different things. When the Insurance companies take more from its customers, then it provides in services, how can they survive as a business? Are they a valid business model? In most industries, this situation could not exist. The underlying issue is that the supply of Medical Professionals is not keeping up with the Demand. Look at ways to increase the supply of medical care to the marketplace.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Many immigrants who come to the United States come here legally; we should respect those who honor our laws. Those who do come here illegally should have a right to petition for a work permit before being returned home. Illegal immigration has the potential of placing people in danger of suffering from human trafficking and labor abuses. Legal immigration supports healthy lives and builds a stronger society; illegal immigration erodes and debases both the migrant and the host.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Non-essential Military intervention utilizes national resources that displace Civilian uses. The United States has a right to protect its interests and the safety of its allies and trading partners.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Free-Trade is a boon for the Marketplace. Barriers need to be in place to protect the national interest.
Infrastructure, Energy security, and Health Care improvements. Our nation's Infrastructure needs revitalization - Roadways, Bridges, and water collection and distribution systems. Energy is a necessity for our Economic Growth and Vitality. Health Care is a critical component of people's security as they build on their confidence and activity. In Health Care, I recommend that we look to allow the practice of Chiropractors to function as health advocates and recognized practitioners. On October 23, 1992, President Bush authorized chiropractors appointment into the military as commissioned officers to date no such position has been filled.
