Unknown Position Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am neither pro-life or pro-choice. Each matter is unique to the people involved. Hopefully, all decisions are made with the full understanding that their decision is a huge decision and cannot be changed. They have gathered the information and made an informed decision.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
In order to expand upon Social Security and Medicare, we should remove the cap on income for employers and employees contributing to SSI and Medicare, reduce it to 5%, and move this money back to the Trust Fund status it held until 1964.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
If you want to set the playing field as evenly as possible, indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions would be banned. If done, then hopefully, the best candidate will emerge and not the one with the deepest pockets.
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
America is dependent on a strong military to defend our country and the need to protect our vital interests all over the world. Without a strong military, we would be dependent and possibly fall prey to others who wish us harm. A strong military deters others from doing just that, other countries or regimes trying to take advantage of us.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
I would support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth, but it has to be growth with a return such as fixing our infra-structure and not a hand out (COVID-19 funding would be an exception rather than the rule). Lowering corporate taxes to promote economic growth is a good idea ONLY if it results in jobs being created for several years. Financial funding for corporations and/or businesses should be in the form of low interest loans to maintain and create jobs, once again for several years.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Education is reserved to the states under the Constitution and each state is unique. Each state should have adopted education standards to serve as the benchmarks to see if the children of that state are receiving a quality education. Federal education standards should serve as a blue print for the states to follow.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Supporting renewable energy efforts will help in reducing our carbon footprint. It will help slow, or even possibly reverse, the effects of climate change. This should be done in conjunction of federal refulation of greenhouse gas emissions. Our air is cleaner. Our water is cleaner. The land is cleaner. Because of regulations imposed by the federal government, we can make those statements. To keep it that way, those regulations and development need to continue.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Assault rifles and "kits" that convert semi-automatic weapons to full assault rifle capabilities should be banned. There is no need for assault style weapons in our country, period. Only the United States Armed Forces need that capability.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 should be replaced. It simply isn't afforadable. Health Care is something that should be offered in different shapes and sizes that those who are working will pick and choose which level of protection they would want. Everyone, whether part time or full time, will have some level of Health Insurance.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
We need to enforce the current immigration laws on the books and stop the illegal immigration flow by building a wall. However, those who are here unlawfully, and are gainfully employed, paying taxes and have a clean arrest record should not return to their country origin. They should be eligible for expedited green card status and if they so desire, to become citizens of this great nation, be allowed to apply.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
No Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
For our safety and the safety of the world, weapons of mass destruction should be limited and especially hostile countries to the United States, such as N. Korea and Iran. Unfortunately, since there is a power vacuum that exists in that part of the world, our intervention will be required. If we leave, we will be back. If we stay, it protects our interests. Either way, brave service men and women will be lost. Our mission should be to protect our interests and non-combatants from harm.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
if other countries place tariffs, quotas, etc., on our goods within their country, we should do the same to their products. If their products are being subsidized by a government to get around trade restrictions and also undercut products made at home, they should be penalized with an additional tariff or tax.
Strengthen and Secure Social Security- Ensure the system is solvent with NO cuts in benefits! Eliminate the cap on earnings. Once the cap is reached, the tax will be reduced to five percent (5%) for both the employer and the employee. Health Care- Have Medicare negotiate prescription drug prices to lower costs for ALL! Everyone will benefit. Armed Services/ Veterans- Active military members will receive a Supplemental Check of $100 per month to help with expenses. Expand the Veterans Choice program so that they can go to any doctor/ hospital for most care. Reduces wait time and improves care.
