Pennsylvania Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I would support restoring the top tax bracket to where it was before the Trump Tax Cut. I would also support raising the Corporate Net Income tax from 21% to 25%. I also am a co-sponsor of HR 860, the Social Security 2100 Act and HR 6356, The Emergency Social Security Benefits Improvement Act
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I favor repealing the "Citizens United" ruling and I also favor banning "dark money contributions" where donors are not revealed to the public.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
There is much spending in the defense budget that can be cut while still maintaining our security.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Corporate taxes have already been cut from 35% to 21%, something I opposed. I favor raising the tax rate to 25%, which still represents a cut from where they were prior to the Trump Adminstration.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Federal Standards should be a floor, not a ceiling for the States.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I am a co-sponsor of the Clean Futures Act. This is legislation which follows the recommendations of the International Panel on Climate Change, which is the gold standard of scientific research on Climate Change. This legislation will put us on a path of net-zero carbon by 2050. I am proud to have earned the Sierra Club endorsement.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I favor banning semi-automatic assault weapons, registration laws, closing the gun show loophole and the Charleston loophole. I have an "F" rating with the NRA
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
I support increased diplomacy.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
I opposed foreign countries illegally dumping their excess capacity into the United States resulting in American businesses being shut down or damaged. We have seen this in the Steel Industry in Western Pennsylvania and I support sanctions or tariffs on those countries that violate our trade agreements
