This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.
Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am proud to be a strong supporter of women's issues in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a mother and a grandmother of three, I care about the concerns of all women. I support the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade to uphold a woman's right to reproductive freedom, and I believe that abortions should be rare, legal, and safe.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
I support reducing our budget deficit and balancing the federal budget, but not at the expense of cutting vital government functions, such as defense, education, transportation, Social Security and Medicare.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
I supported a bipartisan, far-reaching education law that replaced the No Child Left Behind Act called the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA aims to prepare our children for the challenges of the future by investing in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, increasing access to high quality preschool, and raising academic standards.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Reasonable restrictions on firearms are essential to a comprehensive strategy to reduce crime and violence in our society. We must take reasonable steps to ensure that these firearms do not fall into the wrong hands, while also protecting the Second Amendment rights of responsible gun owners. I have been a strong proponent of the Brady Law, which makes background checks a requirement for gun purchases from licensed dealers.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?

No Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
No Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
Diolomacy. Yes
Economy, Education and Environment has always been my legislative priorities
