  • Voted in favor of HR 7900 "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023" (votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of HR 5376 "Build Back Better Act" (votesmart.org)
  • "Our investments represent a lifeline for working families. By increasing funding for childcare, public schools, and providing high- quality job training, this bill gives more tools to help Americans succeed. Government must serve the people, not the biggest corporations. We provided resources to small businesses and entrepreneurs as they pursue the American Dream. We invested to connect communities to the internet and expand access to affordable housing and homeownership. We strengthened our core services and tackled the root causes of rising prices. One example is by providing $158 million to support the production and delivery of small- to medium-size manufacturers, helping detangle the supply chain and lower costs to consumers. We paid for it by cracking down on big corporations and the wealthiest who are not paying their fair share. This government funding legislation truly delivers for the people." • Voted in favor of HR 3684 "Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act" (votesmart.org)
  • Despite exhaustive research, Vote Smart was unable to find information about this candidate's position.
  • "Reduce our dependence on foreign oil by investing in alternative energy sources." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "The #BuildBackBetter Act invests billions to create a 21st Century energy grid capable of delivering reliable, clean energy throughout the nation. Following #Ida, #LA02 needs these renewable energy options online & powering our communities, transitioning us to a #CleanFuture." (twitter.com)
  • Signed Letter to Administrator Regan: "We commend EPA for proposing strong rules to reduce methane and other harmful air pollution from both new and existing oil and natural gas facilities across the country and offer our comments. EPA's proposal strengthens and modernizes rules adopted in 2016 for new and modified oil and gas facilities and builds upon the bipartisan Congressional Review Act resolution (H.J.Res.34, S.J.Res.14), enacted by Congress and signed by the President, with support from the oil and gas industry and electric utilities, to restore federal methane protections and regulation of oil and gas operations. Further, the proposal is historic as it applies methane reduction requirements to the hundreds of thousands of existing wells constructed prior to 2016. Altogether this proposal will help the Biden administration meet its commitment to tackle the climate crisis, achieve a 50-52 percent reduction from 2005 levels in economy-wide net greenhouse gas pollution in 2030, and maintain U.S. leadership on the Global Methane Pledge to reduce the world's methane emissions 30% from 2020 levels by 2030." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "The Inflation Reduction Act alone will help get America 80 percent of the way to achieving its share of greenhouse gas reductions, and the majority of the way toward President Biden's goal of cutting carbon pollution in half this decade." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of HR 2467 "PFAS Action Act of 2021" (votesmart.org)
  • "House Democrats are fighting for safer communities. We have passed the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, the Protecting Our Kids Act, and more to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people while respecting American’s Second Amendment rights." (twitter.com)
  • "One good thing happened in Washington today: Congress passed the Bipartisan #SaferCommunities Act and is sending it to the President’s desk. While it is not perfect, it does the most important thing any gun violence prevention bill can do: save lives. #EndGunViolence" (twitter.com)
  • Voted in favor of S 2938 "Bipartisan Safer Communities Act" (votesmart.org)
  • "It’s simple: immigration reform boosts economic growth, creates jobs and increases wages. What are we waiting for? #TheMomentIsNow for the Senate to deliver a pathway to citizenship" (twitter.com)
  • "Last week my bill the Small Business Advocacy Improvement Act passed the House! Small businesses are the backbone of LA’s economy. If passed by the Senate & signed by the President, this bill would allow @SBAgov to advocate for #SmallBiz in international trade negotiations." (twitter.com)

Pro-choice a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes b) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
No c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
I stand firmly in my position of pro-choice. Abortions should be legal and accessible for those who need them. It is not my role as a man, nor my role as an elected official to decide regulations surrounding abortions. As the adage goes; it is not my body and not my choice in dictating reproductive rights.

1) Budget Stabilization:Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Louisiana's budget.

Yes a) Do you support local governments' say over the Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP), which allows approved manufacturing companies to be exempt from paying local property taxes for up to ten years?
No b) Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions
No c) Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees
Yes d) An income tax increase on any tax bracket
State employees are the backbone of the bureaucratic system that serves our state. We must do all we can to protect their salaries, pensions, and benefits. In addition, I support the Biden administration's initiative to have an income tax increase for the wealthiest 1% as well as roll back the Trump administration's 2017 tax cuts that have disproportionately hurt the lower and working class. These adjustments are made in order to support our budget and services provided by the state.
Yes a) Do you support a limit on campaign contributions to state candidates?
Yes b) Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes c) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
No d) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
Yes e) Do you support automatic voter registration?
Expanding and protecting our right to vote is key to our democracy. The more people who vote, the better our representative democracy becomes in reflecting the electorate's demographics.
No a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
No b) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
No c) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
No d) Do you support legislation that would ban holding cell phones while driving?
We need to have serious reforms in our criminal justice system, we can start with the abolition of the death penalty and protecting immigrant families from search and seizures by local authorities under the auspices of non immigration related matters.
Yes a) Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No b) Do you support lowering state income taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?

Yes f) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Louisiana?
Yes g) Do you support requiring employers to provide paid family leave?
Yes h) Do you support using toll revenue to help fund a new bridge over the Mississippi River?
To rebuild our economy that has been decimated by the Covid-19 Pandemic we must take firm and aggressive action to help the working class and hold the wealthiest 1% accountable for paying their fair share in our recovery process. Most importantly, we must raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour for those businesses who can afford to pay it. There must be government oversight on the private sector in order to be sure that companies and corporations are keeping the communities they reside in in mind and not just their shareholders.
Yes a) Do you support adopting federal education standards in Louisiana?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
Yes c) Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Louisiana high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
Yes d) Do you support legalizing sports betting for the purpose of funding early childhood education programs?
We must support our students and our schools. We should allocate the proper funding to empower our teachers and give them the resources they need.
Yes a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes b) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes c) Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
I support the development of renewable energy and the creation of clean jobs within our state. We should not be asking citizens to choose between their job and their well-being. Additionally, we must allow the EPA or other third party monitors inside plants that cause enormous emissions to hold them accountable in abiding by the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act respectively
Yes a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
No c) Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
Yes d) Should a license be required for gun ownership?
In the wake of deadly mass shootings that have increased exponentially nationwide, we must have broader oversight in gun control. Licenses should be required and the gun show loophole should be closed to deter criminals from seeking gun ownership.
Yes a) Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
Yes b) Do you support Medicaid expansion through Louisiana's health care programs?
No c) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
Yes d) Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
Yes e) Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
I support the expansion of the ACA in creating a public healthcare option for Americans without terminating private insurance holders.
Yes a) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Louisiana's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes b) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Louisiana's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes c) Do you support greater efforts by Louisiana state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
I championed the bill that supported the inclusion of gender identity and sexual orientation into anti-discrimination law. I have always firmly stood with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, we must close the pay gap between men and women. It is abhorrent that in 2021, we are still talking about if it's right that one person makes more money for the same job solely because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top legislative priority and how you plan to fund it.
Access to Covid vaccinations and relief for all Americans including small businesses and individuals. Eliminating the ever inflating student debt that is such a burden to students from working families to create an equitable playing field for secondary education opportunities. Rebuilding the economy for all Americans and not just the wealthy. Reducing police misconduct and holding law enforcement accountable for their actions. Strengthening our homeland security from threats both foreign and domestic.
