Description

"Common Cause is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to ensure open, accountable, and effective federal, state, and local government. Common Cause pursues this agenda through sustained issue campaigns aimed at increasing participation and faith in government by ensuring officials and institutions serve the public interest. We work with over 10,000 activists in Massachusetts and 400,000 nationwide. "In Massachusetts, Common Cause has advocated lobbyist reporting and disclosure, creating a state ethics commission, implementing financial disclosure requirements for public officials, creating an inspector general’s office, opening state legislature to television broadcasts, limiting political action committee (PAC) contributions, reforming campaign finance law, preventing the abolition of state watchdog agencies, protecting citizen ballot initiatives, preventing politicization of judicial branch, and reforming redistricting procedures."
