Description

"No one who works hard every day and plays by the rules should be left behind in our economy. Part of our efforts on behalf of all BACNJ members is to demand our elected officials create an environment that enables us to compete on a level playing field. Although hiring undocumented workers is illegal, the law is rarely enforced. Three out of four foreigners that enter the United States do so illegally and half are paid under the table, so they don't pay taxes. 'Our country needs to break its addiction to cheap labor and products and realize that these things do come at a great cost.' Regardless of what changes we as a Union may make, we will never be able to compete with the rates of unskilled workers that illegally enter our country. Our country needs to break its addiction to cheap labor and products and realize that these things do come at a great cost. Decent wages paid to American citizens make our communities more prosperous because our consumer dollars help support local businesses and our tax dollars ensure good public safety and other services."
