Transcript:

Hi, I'm Governor Mike Pence. When it comes to a strong economy with opportunities for Hoosiers, we've set the bar high here in Indiana.

You may have heard recently that our unemployment rate is 4.9 percent--the first time in more than 7 years that it's been below 5%. Since I took office in 2013, our unemployment rate has actually fallen by 3.5 points--the second largest decrease in the country.

Credit goes to hard-working Hoosiers and businesses large and small that make news like that possible. But it's also a reflection of the pro-growth policies that we've been implementing in recent years.

Those policies have been attracting new investment and jobs to the Hoosier state at a record pace. We recently closed the books on another balanced budget with the second largest surplus in Indiana history. All while still investing in our priorities of tax relief, infrastructure and education.

The result?

Businesses are growing in Indiana. Just like last week, when Amazon touted Indiana's low-cost, low regulation business environment when they announced plans to bring more than 2,000 new jobs to the Hoosier state. And also, it was exciting to hear our friends at the National FFA made the decision to bring their national convention back to our state for a 9-year commitment and $36 million annual economic impact.

All this good news is made possible by hard-working Hoosiers, the great reputation of our state, balanced budgets, low taxes, and the right investments in education and infrastructure. It's all what comes together to make Indiana the state that works.
