Chairman Becerra: Republican-Led Congress On Verge Of Allowing Medicare Premiums And Deductibles To Increase For Seniors

House Democratic Caucus Chairman and Ranking Member of the Ways & Means Subcommittee on Social Security Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released the following statement on today's announcement by the Social Security Administration:

"Today we learned that Social Security's cost of living adjustment (COLA) will not increase despite seniors facing growing health care costs. This Republican-led Congress is on the verge of allowing Medicare premiums and deductibles to increase significantly for seniors in 2016 unless we act soon. My Republican colleagues appear consumed by their internal civil war and ignore the real challenges looming over families across the country. It's time for them to settle their political differences and work with Democrats to pass legislation to protect seniors and their Medicare.
