Inhofe Votes to Repeal Obamacare

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, today voted in favor of amendment #2328 to the Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy (DRIVE) Act (H.R. 22), an amendment that would repeal the Affordable Care Act, commonly called "ObamaCare." The amendment failed by a vote of 49 to 43.

"ObamaCare has amounted to a failed law and a broken promise to the American people, and I continue to support its full repeal," said Inhofe. "Since ObamaCare's disastrous rollout in 2013, I have heard regularly from Oklahomans who have lost access to their doctors, have suffered from skyrocketing healthcare costs, or have had their hours cut to comply with the law's definition of a full-time employee. Just this year, Blue Cross Blue Shield in Oklahoma asked the federal government to approve rate increases that averaged at 31 percent for unsubsidized insurance plans. It's also been reported that insurance providers in Oklahoma, Assurant Health and Global Health of Tulsa, are expected to drop out of the market, leaving Oklahomans with fewer options, not more as President Obama promised. In fact, nationwide, ObamaCare offers on average 34 percent fewer providers than healthcare networks outside the exchanges. It is never too late to repeal a law that has been disastrous for America."
