Today, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind co-sponsored legislation to help prepare Wisconsin workers for jobs in the renewable and energy efficiency industries.
"I have toured a number of businesses in western and central Wisconsin that are on the cutting edge of renewable energy production. As the renewable energy sector continues to grow in Wisconsin, businesses will create more good paying high-skilled jobs. We need to make sure Wisconsin workers have the training they need to compete for these jobs, which is why I co-sponsored legislation to train our workers for jobs in renewable and energy efficiency industries," Rep. Kind stated.
The Renewable Energy Act was introduced by Representative Raul Ruiz (D-CA). The bill seeks to strengthen our energy independence and create jobs by setting up a competitive grant program to be run by the Department of Labor (DOL) which will provide the education and on the job training necessary to put unemployed workers to work in the renewable and energy efficiency industries.
