U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that the Jobs for West Virginia's Graduates program has received a $130,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to help high school students in Cabell, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

Thanks to these funds, the program will continue to serve Huntington High School and Wayne High School and will expand to include Cabell Midland High School, Spring Valley High School and Tolsia High School in Wayne County, and Westside High School and Wyoming East High Schools in Wyoming County. The program will enroll 210 students combined from these schools.

The Jobs for West Virginia's Graduates program teaches students job-seeking skills and provides job shadowing, paid and unpaid internships, and daily one-on-one training and mentoring. Students receive 12 months of job placement and workplace support after graduation.

"If our high school students are to succeed in the workforce, we must give them the tools they need to be competitive in today's world. This grant will empower high schools in Cabell, Wayne and Wyoming to teach their students the skills they need to secure good-paying jobs. I congratulate these schools and the Jobs for West Virginia's Graduates program for their outstanding work to help our students secure a better, brighter future," Rep. Jenkins said.
